For many years, IBEW Local 77 recognized outstanding Shop Stewards through our Shop Steward of the Month program. Shop Stewards are the backbone of our Union: serving as advocates, problem-solvers, communicators, and leaders in workplaces across our jurisdiction.
We are excited to relaunch this program and highlight the exceptional work being done by Stewards throughout Local 77. Nominations can be submitted by any member, Business Representative, officer, or coworker who has witnessed a Steward making a positive impact. We encourage everyone to take a moment to recognize the Stewards who help make our Union stronger every day.

August 2026 Shop Steward Spotlight
Chelsea Somero
IBEW Local 77 is proud to recognize Chelsea Somero of Mason PUD 3 as our Shop Steward of the Month for August 2026!
Chelsea was nominated by fellow member Claire McKay, who describes her as a steward who is always there when members need support. Chelsea works hard to keep her coworkers informed about Union meetings, Local 77 events, and issues that affect them in the workplace. She encourages members to get involved and understand the importance of having a voice in their Union and their working lives.
Most importantly, Chelsea makes sure her coworkers know they can come to her when they need help. If she doesn’t have an answer, she finds someone who does. Claire shared that Chelsea’s support was especially meaningful while she was navigating a difficult health-related situation, helping ensure she was treated fairly at work and easing some of the stress during a challenging time.
Chelsea’s dedication, knowledge, and willingness to support others are exactly what strong union leadership looks like.
Congratulations, Chelsea, and thank you for everything you do for your fellow members and IBEW Local 77!
